HelpMail provides short-lived email inboxes. The design goal is to know as little as possible: there is no registration, no profile and no password, which removes most of the personal data a mail service would normally hold.
Information stored to operate the service
- The addresses of the mailboxes you create, together with their expiry time.
- The messages delivered to those mailboxes, including attachments, for as long as the mailbox exists.
- A random session identifier stored in a cookie in your browser, which links your browser to the mailboxes it created.
- Technical request data such as IP address and user agent, kept briefly in server logs for security and abuse prevention.
Information we do not collect
- No name, postal address or phone number, because nothing in the service asks for them.
- No account password, because there are no accounts.
- No advertising profile built from message content. Message bodies are never used to target ads.
- No sale of personal data, since there is no customer dataset to sell.
Cookies and similar storage
One essential cookie identifies your browser session so your mailboxes stay available while the tab is open. Advertising networks placed by the site operator may set their own cookies when their scripts load, and those are governed by their own policies. Blocking third-party cookies in your browser does not break the inbox.
Retention and deletion
Messages live exactly as long as their mailbox. When the countdown ends, or when you delete an address yourself, the mailbox, its messages and its attachments are removed by the cleanup process. Nothing is kept afterwards, so nothing can be recovered.
Third parties
Third parties involved in running the service are limited to the infrastructure that hosts it, the mail gateway that receives email for its domains, and the advertising providers selected by the operator. They process data to provide those functions and are not given access to message content for their own purposes.
Your rights
- Access and erasure are effectively immediate: delete the mailbox and the associated messages are gone.
- Because no account exists, there is no profile to export, correct or port.
- Questions about log data can be sent to the support address in the footer and are handled according to applicable law.
Security and children
Messages are transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on access-controlled servers, and message HTML is sanitized before it is displayed. No system is perfect, so avoid using a temporary inbox for sensitive documents or credentials. The service is not directed at children, nor at anyone below the age required to consent to data processing where they live.
